1. Installation
1.1 Installing the Extension
- Open the Chrome Web Store in your browser.
- Search for "YTB Summary".
- Click "Add to Chrome".
- Confirm the installation when prompted.
The YTB Summary icon will appear in your browser toolbar.
1.2 Signing In
- Click the YTB Summary icon in your browser toolbar.
- Click "Sign in with Google".
- Select your Google account.
- Grant the requested permissions.
Your account is now active and ready to use.
2. Generating a Summary
2.1 Navigating to a Video
Go to any YouTube video you want to summarize. Before proceeding, verify that the video has subtitles available by checking if the "CC" (closed captions) button is visible on the video player.
2.2 Opening the Extension
Click the YTB Summary icon in your browser toolbar. A sidebar will appear on the right side of the YouTube page.
2.3 Configuring Summary Options
Before generating a summary, you can adjust the following settings:
- Summary Length: Use the slider to select a length between 50 and 500 words. Shorter summaries provide a quick overview; longer summaries include more detail.
- Language: Select your preferred language for the summary output.
2.4 Generating the Summary
Click the "Summarize" button. The AI will process the video transcript and display the summary in real-time as it is generated. Most summaries complete within 5 to 15 seconds.
3. Clarification Questions
After receiving a summary, you can ask follow-up questions about the video content.
3.1 Asking a Question
- Locate the input field below the summary.
- Type your question.
- Click "Ask" or press Enter.
The AI will respond based on the full video transcript.
3.2 Example Questions

The summary language is independent of the video's original language. You can generate a summary in English from a video in Japanese, for example.

Visit your account dashboard at the YTB Summary website to:
